How to choose the right LCD module? This topic might have been discussed by many customers from overseas, because this really matters too much. If you choose the right LCM manufacturer with perfect models, this would save you a lot not only the money, but also the energy and avoid some issues.
As the largest country with No.1 shipment of LCD modules, China has owned many branded LCD manufacturers such as BOE, CSOT, HKC, IVO, which can offer the original factory models with good quality. These brands can be purchased directly by the very very large consumer economics distributors from the original factory and also the authorized agents.
With 12 years experience in this industry, we’d like to share you some on the choice of purchasing LCM to make sure you will get the right LCD modules from them.
1.Original backlits or Assembled backlits
They are with same FOG, but different backlits assembled by original factory and the authorized backlits factory. The quality is with some difference as well. The stablity on the backlights would be better for the original models. Certainly, the price of original models would be higher around US$ 3-4/pc than the assembled ones.
2.Sizes
It’s the first point for every project. There are two sizes to consider: Outer dimension and active area. The outer dimension should be fit the body of the device and the active area should be satisfied for good performance. Our products are ranging from 7 inch to 21.5 inch for different products such as tablets, laptops, POS terminals, industrial tablets, etc…
3.Resolutions
Resolutions will influence the performance of the images. Everybody would like the good performance of the display shows under the limited budgets. So there are different resolutions for selections, such as HD, FHD, QHD, 4K,8K, etc… But the higher resolution means the higher cost, high power consumption, memory size, date transfer speed, etc…Generally we mainly offer HD(800*480;800*600;1024*600;1280*800;1366*768) and FHD (1920*1200; 1920*1080)
4.Interface
There are many different interfaces of LCD modules for devices, such as RGB, LVDS, MIPI, EDP. RGB interfaces are generally for 7inch to 10.1inch and other interfaces are generally depends on the mainborder of devices. LVDS interfaces are generally used for the industrial devices, MIPI and EDP are mainly used for the laptops and tablets. We’d like to recommend the suitale models with the correct interface for your devices.
5.Power consumption
Power consumption would be considered for some devices such as the handheld devices and some POS terminals. So we can offer the suitable LCD moduels with low power consumption which can make the devices work smoothly.
6.Viewing angle
If the budget is tight, TN type TFT LCD can be chosen but there is viewing angle selection of either 6 o’clock or 12 o’clock. Gray scale inversion needs to be taken of carefully. If a high-end product is designed, you’d better selecting IPS TFT LCD which doesn’t have the viewing angle issue and you will get the perfect results as respected.
7.Brightess
Generally the brightness of original factory models are fixed which can not be customized since the tooling model is very high and the MOQ is too much. As the LCM manufacturer, we can customize the brightness as you requested if the quantity is not too small.
There are other factors you may meet such as aspect ratio, temperature when you choose the LCD screens for projects. But the main factors are those listed above.
