CCTV Finance: Prices of flat panel TVs have risen more than 10% this year because of the tight supply of raw material

According to CCTV Finance, the May Day holiday is the traditional home appliance consumption peak season, when discounts and promotions are not small.

However, due to the rising prices of raw materials and the tight supply of display panels, the average price of TV sales has increased much during this year's May Day, compared with previous years.

According to the related report, a store manager of a large home appliance store in Beijing told reporters that due to the impact of the upstream panel prices and other factors, the average price of their flat panel TV sales during the May Day will be increased from 3,600 RMB in the first quarter to 4,000 RMB, which is also higher than the same period in the previous two years.

Jin Liang, general manager of Beijing Gome, told reporters that panels account for 60 to 70 percent of the cost of the complete appliance, and changes in the price of panels will directly lead to application price increases, which have continued to rise in the recent period, with an average increase of 10 to 15 percent compared with the beginning of the year.

At present, most enterprises rely on the advantage of large-scale single gathering to offset the pressure of rising prices.

CCTV financial report said that polarized film is the core display material of flat panel TV panels. In the world's largest polarized film production enterprises, the first quarter of the year-on-year growth of more than 20%, is still in the state of full production and sales.

According to China LCD network’s knowledge, regarding another key material of the panel - glass substrate, the largest supplier of the United States Corning Glass announced price increases.

Industry analysis believes that, considering the polarized film, glass substrate, driving IC and other raw materials are still out of stock, but overlay panel demand of the slack season is not light.

The TV panel price is expected to continue for a period of time.

LCD panel supply and demand will be tight throughout the whole 2021.

Some agencies predict that tight supply and demand will continue to the third quarter of this year.

Increase of three major applications, namely TV, laptop and monitor, accelerated from March to late April, with the average price increase of TV panel exceeding 6 percent.

Panel prices have risen for 11 months constantly and are expected to rise again in May.
